Rancheros roundup $188,000 despite ride being cancelled due to COVID-19

KEYT

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The 90th Annual Rancheros Ride was scheduled for this upcoming weekend, but just like everything else it's been canceled as California deals with the pandemic and the stay at home order.

Organizers still managed to raise more than $188,000 in donations for the Cancer Foundation of Santa Barbara. They are busy trying to rustle up more donations as they head into the final week of fundraising.

Donations have added up to more than $1,258,000 over the last 9 years. Money raised by RV members and Wrangler Jeans by their 'Tough Enough to Wear Pink Foundation' helps support clinical research trials, wellness classes and support programs, hereditary cancer risk counseling and nurse navigation.

The Rancheros Visitadores event attracts 750 participants from 37 states and 6 countries every year. They would normally parade on horseback and in carriages along Alisal Road through downtown Solvang to Old Mission Santa Inés. But, we'll have to wait until next year to see that again.

For more information and to make a donation visit the Ridley-Tree Cancer Center website.
