CARPINTERIA, Calif.-Carpinteria High School's cafeteria has been transformed into a COVID19 vaccination clinic put on by Santa Barbara County Public Health.

The clinic, offering free Pfizer vaccines, is being held this Tuesday and Wednesday from 3-7 p.m.

A similar clinic will be held at Santa Ynez High School next Monday and Tuesday from 3-7 pm.

POD or clinic manager Nancy Lapolla said, "It's great to have at high school. It makes it easy for students to get their permission slips. They don't have to bring parents as long as they have their forms filled out."

Carpinteria High School Senior Juan Cruz graduates on June 10 and wanted to get his first vaccine.

"It was easy, it wasn't that painful as I thought it would be," said Cruz.

One student heading to a baseball playoff game wanted to wait until after his sport's season ended.

He could go to the clinic later in the month when Cruz and others will return for second doses at Carpinteria High on June 22 and June 23.

People can make appointments or walk up and they have some incentives.

Direct Relief donated toothbrush and toothpaste goodie bags and Neighbor-to-Neighbor donated masks made patterned materials.

If the high school clinic hours are not convenient the Santa Barbara Public Health Deparment has a mobile vaccine clinic that will be visiting the Carpinteria Children's Project at 5201 8th St. on Saturday, June 5 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
