Additional Santa Barbara custody deputy tests positive for COVID-19

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - An additional employee of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office has tested positive for COVID-19.

The custody deputy was tested as part of a broad testing program of all custody staff, the sheriff's office said.

According to Raquel Zick, public information officer for the sheriff's office, the deputy worked in an assignment that did not have any contact with inmates.

The deputy is on leave while recovering. The sheriff's office said the deputy was not experiencing any symptoms.

42 employees of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office have tested positive for COVID-19. 40 are considered recovered and the other two remain on leave.
