Two Cal Poly students arrested Saturday night on weapons and vandalism charges
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Two Cal Poly students were arrested Saturday night in Poly Canyon Village for multiple felony and misdemeanor charges including for weapons possession and vandalism.
No injuries were reported in this incident explain Cal Poly Communications Office.
Around 10:15 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, Cal Poly Police responded to a call for shots fired in the campus-affiliated housing complex where they discovered two students in possession of a shotgun and a loaded, concealed pistol detail Cal Poly University Communications Office.
According to Cal Poly Police, responding officers also found a campus sign along the road with bullet holes and explained that the students intended to shoot only the sign and were not intentionally looking to harm anyone on campus.
The two students were arrested and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail and the University has banned both from campus while they are processed through the criminal justice and student conduct processes detail Cal Poly Communications Office.
Cal Poly Communications Office and San Luis Obispo County District Attorney's Office confirmed that both students have posted their bail.
