Fire agencies in Ventura County hold controlled burn
Fire crews in Ventura County held a controlled burn today at Barlow Canyon. The burn was part of a larger prescribed burn project at the site, according to Ventura police.
Smoke, flames and firefighting aircraft were visible into the late afternoon. The controlled burn aimed at making nearby neighborhoods safer by removing or reducing brush that would act as fuel for wildfires if one were to break out in the area.
The goal of the controlled burn also included improvement to the habitat and environment. The Ventura County Fire Department said on their Facebook page that “these burns are a vital way to increase local safety before fire season hits with full force.”
