Cuyama schools closed Wednesday due to overnight Highway 166 closure

Santa Barbara County

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif.– As Santa Barbara County schools reopen following the storm, Cuyama schools will continue to remain closed Wednesday due to the overnight Highway 166 closure blocking student and staff's transportation to school.

Highway 166 reopened Wednesday by 8 a.m., but not earlier enough for school buses and transportation services to safely pick up and drop off students at the usual start of the school day.

Cuyama plans to resume normal operations Thursday but remains flexible to change the schedule based on the state of the highway.

All other Santa Barbara County public schools are reopened.
