South County Regional Center in Arroyo Grande provides overnight shelter as storm system hits the central coast
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.– South County Regional Center in Arroyo Grande will remain open as a warming center Friday and Saturday night for those who need overnight shelter from the rain.
The 5Cities Homeless Coalition provides a dry place to sleep and a hot meal for guests at the center. All are welcome, but no pets are allowed in the facility.
Sobriety is not a condition, but no substances of any kind are allowed on the premises. No re-entry is permitted in the shelter once one arrives and chooses to leave.
5Cities Homeless Coalition continues to offer the following transportation system.
Afternoon Transportation:
- Pickup at Oceano duck pond at 5:15PM
- Pickup at Ramona Park at 5:25 PM
- Pickup at Fin’s Restaurant at 5:35 PM
- Pickup at St. Anthony’s at 5:45 PM
- Pickup at the Outlet bus stop at 5:55 PM
- Drop off at South County Regional Center 6:15 PM
Morning Transportation:
- Pickup at South County Regional Center at 7:00 AM
- Drop off at the outlet bus stop at 7:10 AM
- Drop off at St. Anthony’s at 7:20 AM
- Drop off at Fin’s Restaurant at 7:30 AM
- Drop off at Ramona Park at 7:40 AM
- Drop off at Oceano Duck Pond at 7:50 AM
Community members looking to donate can provide the following and also volunteer by contacting Warming Center Lead Charmain Navarette at (805) 295-1501.
Donations:
- Large trash bags
- Coffee, tea, hot chocolate creamer, sugar
- SOFT breakfast bars, cereal
- individually packed juice, crackers, cookies, chips
- Instant Noodle/Cup of Noodles (camping meals as well)
- NEW sweatshirts, sweatpants, socks, and underwear
- Rain gear/ponchos/warm gloves/
- Large backpacks
- Cards (for gas, clothing, and food)
