Island Brewing beer now aboard Amtrak Surfliner

Amtrak passengers will now be able to enjoy beer from one of Carpinteria’s favorite, the Island Brewing Company. Amtrak agreed to carry the brewery’s Hopliner IPA on its Surfliner train.

“It’s something we’ve thought about for years,” says owner and founder Paul Wright. “Pretty much every time the Surfliner went by and everyone with a beer in their hand on our patio waved at the people on the train waving back we thought, ‘How great would it be to get one of our beers on the train?” and now it’s happening.”

Known for its array of accolades that include nation-wide and wold-wide recognition, the Island Brewing Company is family run and has become a staple of Carpinteria.

Brewed with generous amounts of Azacca and El Dorado hops, the 22 oz.-bottle Hopliner IPA has already gained a local following. The bottle’s label combines different images and iconography art found around the brewery and throughout the Central Coast. It also reproduces the Surfliner blue and silver color theme.

Island Brewing’s Hopliner IPA is available on the train’s Cafe Car along a 350-mile stretch from San Luis Obispo to San Diego.
