Local salon celebrates 25 years
A local salon is celebrating 25 years. Shear West opened on April 1, 1988 on San Andres Street in Santa Barbara.
It is run by Kelly Martin, her sister and their mother, Joanne Douglas, 79.
Douglas has been styling hair for more than 50 years, and she hasn’t slowed down.
“Because she has been in the business for 60 years, she has a gift for the retro look, and that is so popular today,” explained Martin.
Before opening Shear West with her daughters, Douglas had spent 20 years working at the former Mesa Salon.
