Three Bishop Diego High School football players receive All-State recognition
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - After an undefeated 5-0 spring season, the awards are piling up for Bishop Diego High School football.
The Cardinals Jordon Tagaloa, Buddy Melgoza and Marcus Chan received All-State honors from Cal-Hi Sports.
Senior guard Jordon Tagaloa was named First Team All-State for medium schools.
The 305-pounder helped Bishop Diego average 211 rushing yards per game.
Senior defensive back Buddy Melgoza made Second Team All-State for medium schools after intercepting five passes in five games, including a 90-yard touchdown return against St. Bonaventure.
The state leader in interceptions finished with six.
Marcus Chan was named Third Team All-State Multi-Purpose for juniors regardless of the size of the school.
Chan ran for close to 550 yards with eight touchdowns from his running back position and also caught a touchdown pass.
On defense he intercepted three passes including a 51-yd pick-six against Simi Valley.
