Ventura Police arrest San Diego homicide suspect

VENTURA, Calif. -- Ventura Police Department arrested the San Diego homicide suspect in Ventura on Wednesday morning.

Police arrested Forrest Robert Brantley, 38, after being spotted by officers on Wednesday morning near Junipero Street and Santa Clara Street in Ventura.

Brantley is wanted for a murder in San Diego along with a parole violation.

On Nov. 28, the San Diego Police Department received a call about an injured man in the 3100 block of Sports Arena Boulevard at 8 a.m. that day.

Officers said when they arrived they found the man with significant trauma to his neck. He was transported to the hospital but did not survive his injuries.

Homicide investigators discovered that the victim had been in an altercation with Brantley who had used a weapon to cause traumatic injuries to the victims neck area.

Police said Brantley was last seen walking away from the scene.

On Tuesday afternoon, Brantley was then spotted on a Ventura Community College grounds causing the school to shelter-in-place.

Brantley was taken into custody without issue.

A review of superior court data bases show Brantley has been arrested 34 times since 2000.

The charges included burglary, elder abuse, drug related offenses and property crimes.

At the time of his arrest on Wednesday, he was on active parole for attempted robbery, burglary, elder abuse and assault with a deadly weapon.
