Turkey Drive: Santa Maria Honda, Toyota dealerships now accepting donations
SANTA MARIA, Calif. -- The KCOY Turkey Drive is receiving some new help this year from two Santa Maria-based car dealerships.
Toyota of Santa Maria and Honda of Santa Maria are teaming up with KCOY to help provide assistance for Good Samaritan Shelter clients in Northern Santa Barbara County.
“Right now we’re inviting the public, anyone is free to come in and drop off turkeys and non-perishable food items in our bed of our truck so that way, we can go and take it over to Good Samaritan," said Zach Adam, Toyota of Santa Maria Sales Consultant.
The two dealerships are located next door to each other, across from the Crossroads Center on Bradley Road, as well as the Enos Ranch Center, along Betteravia Road.
Both sites have a Thanksgiving-themed decorated pick-up truck in its showroom that is ready to be filled up.
“As a dealership, we think it’s important to give back to those in need, reach out and be more than a dealership," said Adam. "We want to be a helping hand in the community and I think it’s a great opportunity for us to be able to show that and do that for the community.”
Donations can be given at any time between now and the Turkey Drive, which is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 21 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Food that is collected at the dealerships will directly benefit Good Samaritan clients.
“Just come on down and help support with your local Toyota and Honda dealerships and help us support the community and Good Samaritan Shelter," Adam said.
During the Turkey Drive on Nov. 21st, there will be several donation drop-off locations around the Central Coast, including:
*KCOY studios in Santa Maria
*Grocery Outlet Bargain Market in Lompoc
*California Fresh Market in Pismo Beach
*Food Bank Coalition of SLO County in San Luis Obispo
*Vons in San Luis Obispo
*Vons in Atascadero
All donations collected in Northern Santa Barbara County benefit Good Samaritan Shelter, while those collected in San Luis Obispo County go towards the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County.
