Lompoc cancels Old Town Market due to COVID-19 concerns
LOMPOC, Calif. -- Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce canceled the 2020 Old Town Market due to COVID-19 concerns.
The Chamber of Commerce made the decision on Friday in response to State and County social distancing and large gathering orders.
The organization say it is their responsibility to keep the community safe.
The Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce is a private organization that helps advocate for local businesses in the area.
The President and CEO of the network gave the following statement on the decision:
“The decision to cancel Old Town Market in 2020 was difficult, yet necessary to preserve the public health and safety of our community members, vendors, volunteers and Staff. It is difficult, at best, to comply with State and County social distancing and large gathering guidelines in an event like Old Town Market and with so many unknown factors in the distance we are unable to move forward with planning this year. Chamber Board and Staff look forward to hosting Old Town Market in summer of 2021 and appreciates the communities continued support.”
