Ventura Botanical Gardens will open Saturday
VENTURA, Calif. -- The Ventura Botanical Gardens is set to reopen on Saturday, June 6. It has been closed throughout the coronavirus pandemic, which also allowed for new construction on the site.
A maximum of 50 visitors at a time will be let into the gardens to allow for physical distancing. The gardens will be open Wednesdays through Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $7 per person, and children under 18 are free. Entrance is free on Fridays, and leashed dogs are welcome on Wednesdays and Fridays.
The Merewether Welcome Center entrance is now set up for non-contact social distancing, and the exit has been moved to the back of the education structure.
A new entrance walkway was designed by local architects Noah Greer and Martha Picciotti.
“It was a real challenge starting with a long, steep asphalt driveway," Greer said. "We used redwood pickets set on stepped walls to add texture and frame the entry. Those pickets will soon enclose the new nursery, so visitors will be able to look into the heart of the gardens as they walk by.”
The Ventura Botanical Gardens is located at 567 S. Poli Street. For more information visit www.venturabotanicalgardens.com.
