Siren testing scheduled Tuesday for Ellwood Onshore Facility in Goleta
GOLETA, Calif. - People may hear sirens Tuesday in the Goleta area.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department is working with Beacon West Energy Group to conduct an annual siren test of the Emergency Warning and Notification System at Ellwood Onshore Facility, which is located at 7979 Hollister Avenue.
The test starts at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and is only expected to last for one to two minutes.
The City of Goleta says depending on the weather, the sound from the siren can be carried for a greater distance.
The mandatory coverage area is marked by signs, including Calle Real from the entrance to the Embarcadero Municipal Improvement District almost to the Cathedral Oaks intersection.
The city says the area also includes Hollister Avenue beginning near the Ritz Carlton Resort tennis courts to just past the Sandpiper golf Course parking lot.
