Santa Maria police investigate bank robbery on South Broadway

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Santa Maria Police Department responded to reports of a robbery at the Community Bank of Santa Maria on South Broadway.

The call came in at 4:46 p.m. on Friday. Police received an alarm call from community bank. Shortly after, they received a call from employees who locked themselves inside.

The suspect robbed the bank at gunpoint, then fled the scene before deputies arrived.

Two customers were also in the bank at the time. No one was harmed.

Police say the man fled in a car. They do have a description of the suspect and his car, plus surveillance footage from the bank.

However, they are not releasing the descriptions at this time.
