UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA AT SANTA BARBARA (KEYT) – University police are investigating an attempted robbery and stabbing at Coal Oil Point Reserve that happened Wednesday evening.

On Nov. 4, at 9:10 p.m., a campus alert was issued about an attempted robbery that resulted in a stabbing at Coal Oil Point Reserve.

The initial alert noted that no suspects were taken into custody and described the perpetrators as four men in dark clothing last seen running northbound towards Slough Road.

A second alert issued at 9:46 p.m. Wednesday detailed that investigators were seeking four to five men and at least three of them had knives.

The final campus alert was sent out at 11:01 p.m. which lifted the avoid-the-area warning issued for the reserve after a search by law enforcement.

No suspects have been taken into custody, shared the latest campus alert, and the community was asked to exercise caution as additional patrols blanket the campus and surrounding Isla Vista community.

Anyone with more information about the incident is asked to contact the UCSB Police at 805-893-3446.
