ICE agents spend hours in lobby of County Jail

Tracy Lehr / KEYT

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents spent more than four hours Monday inside the lobby of the Santa Barbara County jail.

They chose not to comment, but could be heard discussing agitators over a walkie-talkie device.

Members of S.B. Resiste said they call themselves observers and used their phones to record the men.

Some wore masks and bodycams.

All appeared armed.

"They have been here all day on our taxpayers dime, originally 7 agents driving up in I don't know how many vehicles and this is just happening too often," said Celine Eising.

"We have been here since 11, no breaks, no nothing, just waiting here to see what happens and then they just leave, that to me is as successful day," said Ana Arce.

Some of the observers said the ICE activity on the eve of Election Day could suppress the vote.

Other said it may give some people a reason to vote.
