SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) - People living with serious vision loss may not realize there are tools that can make everyday tasks easier.

Low-vision optometrist Dr. Andrew Bock is raising awareness about specialized care available in the Santa Barbara area.

Low vision can make it difficult to read, recognize faces, watch television or use a computer even after traditional treatment or prescription glasses.

John Daly is one patient finding help through technology.

He uses electronic glasses to see his computer screen more clearly. The glasses can also help him watch television.

Low-vision care focuses on what a person can still see and what they want to be able to do.

Specialized glasses, magnification and electronic devices can help with different needs.

The goal is to help people make better use of their remaining vision and maintain independence.
