Anthony Torres-Lopez Jr. arrested Thursday night in Santa Barbara after multi-day manhunt

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) – Anthony Torres-Lopez Jr., the man wanted for allegedly ramming a patrol vehicle earlier this week, was arrested Thursday evening in Santa Barbara.

On April 21, around 6:05 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the Patterson Place Apartment complex for a report of a suspicious person in a vehicle, later identified as 40-year-old Anthony Torres-Lopez Jr. of Santa Barbara, stated a press release from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office Friday.

During the initial contact by deputies at the scene, Torres-Lopez Jr. is alleged to have reversed the BMW he was driving into a patrol vehicle before accelerating forward over a sidewalk and onto a pedestrian walkway before colliding with a raised curb detailed the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.

He abandoned the damaged vehicle and fled the area on foot noted the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.

A several-hour search of the area turned up empty.

Detectives took over the investigation and identified a home in the 700 block of Camino Cascada that was associated with the wanted man shared the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.

On April 23, around 2:23 p.m., deputies and a SWAT team served a search warrant at the home.

Torres-Lopez Jr. was not at the home, but further investigation resulted in the 40-year-old being located around 11:23 p.m. at the intersection of Bath and Carrillo Streets in Santa Barbara stated the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.

He was booked at the Main Jail on his outstanding warrants for a probation violation, a Ramey warrant for felony unlawful possession of teargas, and an on-view charge of possession of narcotics for sale explained the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.

Torres-Lopez Jr. is being held without bail added the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.
