Ventura man arrested Monday in connection serial vehicle burglaries

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – A 45-year-old Ventura man was arrested Monday in connection with more than 25 separate calls for thefts from area vehicles in just April of this year.

Deputies assigned to Thousand Oaks and Moorpark responded to more than 25 calls for service related to thefts from vehicles in April alone stated a press release from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, the crimes usually happened early in the morning on several dates this month and detectives identified a 45-year-old Ventura man who had been previously arrested for a similar series of crimes just a few months earlier in several Ventura County cities.

On April 20, investigators located the 45-year-old in Ventura and he was taken into custody for some of the thefts in Thousand Oaks detailed the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

During the arrest, deputies located stolen property in the Ventura man's possession and some of those recovered items may be tied to additional thefts in the surrounding area added the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

The 45-year-old was booked at the Pre-trial Detention Facility on the following charges:

  • Five Counts of PC 459(a)–Burglary
  • Ten Counts of PC 484(a)–Petty Theft
  • Two Counts of PC 487a–Grand Theft
  • Eight Counts of VC 10852–Vehicle Tampering
  • Three Counts of OC 664/459(a)–Attempted Burglary
  • PC 666.1(a)(1)–Theft with Two or More Prior Theft Convictions
  • H&S 11364(a)–Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • H&S 11377(a)–Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • H&S 11350(a)–Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • PC 484e(a)–Theft of an Access Card
  • PC 978.5–Bench Warrant

The 45-year-old had his first court appearance since his arrest Monday and was remanded into custody with bail set at $25,000 shared the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.
