More work to be done on sinkhole near Turnpike
GOLETA, Calif. - Crews working to repair a sinkhole on a local onramp along the 101 found more damage to a corrugated steel and reinforced concrete pipe than previously thought.
The discovery is adding to their workload.
The repairs have created a detour for drivers trying to get onto the 101 southbound at Turnpike.
Caltrans and Granite Construction are working from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily to get the job done.
The detour takes drivers to S. Patterson Avenue and State Street.
The sinkhole, which was first reported on December 27, 2019, should be fully repaired by the end of February, weather permitting.
