Ventura City Council approves settlement and release of City Manager Alex McIntyre
VENTURA, Calif. – The Ventura City Council approved a general release of City Manager Alex McIntyre effective at the close of business on Tuesday, Dec. 13.
A $150,000 settlement agreement with McIntyre was also approved during the meeting to waive any claims against the city, according to officials.
McIntyre has been on paid administrative leave since Nov. 14, 2022.
City Attorney Andy Heglund explained, "The City Council voted 7-0 to approve and authorize Mayor Sofia Rubalcava to execute a separation agreement and general release to avoid the expense of litigation that could exceed $100,000.”
Assistant City Manager Akbar Alikhan will now serve as acting City Manager.
“The Council and I have full confidence in the organization’s leadership and dedicated staff who continue to carry the City forward positively and productively,” stated Mayor Sofia Rubalcava.
After the retirement of City Manager Mark Watkins in 2017, McIntyre filled the vacated position starting in November of 2018.
