Port Hueneme cancels 2020 Beach Festival
PORT HUENEME, Calif. - The City of Port Hueneme has canceled the 2020 Hueneme Beach Festival.
City officials said the festival was canceled due to "unprecedented uncertainty" due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Hueneme Beach Festival is held every year and recently returned from a five-year hiatus. This year's festival was scheduled to take place from August 22-23.
"These difficult but necessary steps were taken in order to ensure the health and safety of our residents and visitors, which continues to be our utmost priority throughout the COVID-19 crisis," the city said in a press release.
The city will now turn its focus toward the planning of a special 2021 Hueneme Beach Festival which is scheduled for August 21-23, 2021. Many of the acts and vendors have committed to return for the 2021 festival.
