OXNARD, Calif. -- Ventura County Sheriff's Department arrested two men for illegal firearm possession on Friday in Oxnard.

Detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Street Team and Gang unit arrested Jacob Oseguera, 18, Oxnard and Jorge Nunez, 18, Oxnard for numerous firearms charges.

On Friday, detectives followed up on information indicating Oseguera was in possession of an illegal firearm.

Detectives began an investigation and tracked Oseguera to the 2400 block of Alvarado Street in Oxnard where detectives found him associating with Nunez.

Detectives conducted surveillance on both subjects before contacting them both in the area of Alvarado Street and Stroube Street in El Rio.

Detectives detained both subjects in order to invoke the terms of their probation.

Detectives found Oseguera to be concealing a shortened barrel 12 gauge shotgun in this waistband and shotgun ammunition in his sweatshirt pocket.

Detectives found that Nunez was concealing a loaded .40 caliber firearm with a high capacity magazine in his front waistband.

The magazine contained 19 live rounds of ammunition.

Both firearms found were unregistered.
