Oxnard police arrest woman for possession of drugs and stolen handgun

OXNARD, Calif. - Oxnard Police Department arrested a woman for possession of drugs and a weapon Monday night.

Officers were conducting a foot patrol in the 100 block of Dolores Court at around 4:40 pm where two women seemed to be unlawfully occupying vacant apartments in that area.

Officers found multiple amounts of methamphetamine inside a room which they believed was possessed by one of the women. That woman was Melissa Estrella, 35, of Oxnard. Officers also searched inside Estrella' backpack and found a small handgun which had been reported as stolen. She was also on probation with search terms.

Estrella was arrested for multiple drug violations, possession of methamphetamine and multiple firearm violations. The other woman was cited for a drug offense.
