Roadway flooding and closures in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties
CENTRAL COAST, Calif. – According to the California Highway Patrol incident report log, there have been more than 100 weather-related incidents on the roadways in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties on Monday morning.
Road closures:
- The northbound Highway 101 Marsh St on and off ramps have been closed due to flooding according to Caltrans;
- Caltrans closed Highway 1 in three locations as of 8 a.m.:
- from Division to Oso Flaco with no estimation of reopen;
- from Highway 1 at State Route 9 due to river flooding;
- and between Black Rd and Solomon in Santa Maria due to flooding;
- On Highway 17, Caltrans closed the number two lane on the northbound side just south of Sugarloaf due to a mudslide;
- Caltrans closed the northbound Madonna Road offramp on Highway 101 due to flooding;
- Highway 135 has been closed at Harris Grade Rd due to flooding;
- Highway 41 was closed in two locations:
- from 5.2 miles north of Morro Bay to the Atascadero Creek Bridge due to mudslides;
- near Bear Ridge Rd to the Atascadero Creek Bridge with no estimate for re-opening.
CHP reported roadway flooding in the following locations:
- Cars were reported stuck in one to three feet of water on Highway 1 at mile meter 1.3 under the railroad tracks;
- Northbound Madonna Rd offramp;
- Southbound Highway 101 at Tassajara Creek Rd;
- Salinas Ave and Eddy St;
- Dover Canyon Rd at the creek crossing;
- Foothill at Los Osos Valley Rd;
- Las Tablas at Old Country Rd;
- Buckley Rd and Vachell Ln;
- Highway 1 and Main St;
- E Branch St and Beechnut St;
- Price Canyon Rd and Oil Rd;
- Chimney Rock Rd and Adelaida Rd;
- Two feet of water reported at Templeton Rd and Wild Horse Winery Ct;
- Jesperson Rd and Buckley Rd;
- Alamo Pintado Rd and Highway 246;
- Northbound Highway 101 on and off ramps at Spring St;
- Highway 192 behind Birnam Wood Golf Club;
- Highway 1 and San Julian Rd;
- Highway 101 at Gaviota Tunnel;
- Northbound Highway 101 off ramp at Prado Rd.
Mud, dirt, rock and/ or other hazards in the roadway have been reported in the following areas:
- Landslide blocking part of the southbound number two lane on Highway 101 at Stage Coach Rd;
- A mudslide across La Panza Rd and Stage Springs Rd was reported for several thousand feet;
- Highway 154 at West Camino Cielo reports of rock slides and debris;
- Highway 101 at Reservoir Canyon Rd report of a mud slide in the number one lane;
- Two slides reported on southbound Highway 41 at Cerro Alto Rd;
- Blockage reported on northbound S Thompson Ave on Highway 166;
- CHP reported mud across both lanes at Highway 41 at Eureka Grade;
- A tree down across the roadway at Perfumo Canyon and Los Osos Valley roads;
- Tree down across the roadway at See Canyon and Black Walnut roads;
- And another tree down on Adelaida Rd and Nacimiento Lake Dr;
- Mud reported on Highway 41 and Homestead Rd;
- Blockage reported on northbound Highway 1 at Mountain View Blvd;
- Blockage in both lanes at Santa Rosa Rd and Avenue of the Flags;
- Boulders on Highway 154 and Highway 246;
- A power pole reported leaning towards Highway 1 at S Halcyon Rd;
- Mudslide in the number two lane on Highway 1 at Colony Dr;
- Hillside has fallen on Cuesta St and Highway 246 near the Chumash Casino Resort;
- Highway 101 near the Highway 1 offramp;
- Boulder in the lane on Highway 46 and Antelope Rd;
- Highway 101 just south of Blueberry Farm.
