Crash turns hydrant into geyser in Santa Maria

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Santa Maria firefighters stopped a gushing hydrant on Saturday after a crash.

It happened on the 500 block of E Chapel Street in Santa Maria.

Crews said the vehicle that struck the hydrant did not stay at the scene.

Fortunately, firefighters were able to shut off the flow of water and save thousands of gallons of water.
