Fire starts in HWY 101 center divider north of Los Alamos

LOS ALAMOS, Calif. - Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a brush fire that broke out in the center divider of Highway 101 north of Los Alamos on Monday.

The fire was first reported around 3:47 p.m. at Cat Canyon Road.

California Highway Patrol said there was heavy smoke in the area blowing toward the northbound lanes of the freeway.

Traffic was stopped on the northbound side around 3:50 p.m. One northbound lane was reopened at about 4 p.m.

The cause is under investigation.
