Highway 246 in Lompoc closure postponed

KEYT road maintenance repair

The closure of Highway 246 in Lompoc has been postponed, according to Caltrans public information officer Jim Shivers.

Shivers announced the postponement on Monday.

The construction project was set to begin Tuesday and take place throughout the rest of the week.

Shivers said there is currently no set date for the project to resume.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. – A four-day project to resurface Highway 246 will begin Tuesday through Friday.

This grind and pave operation will shut down Highway 246 from the separation with Highway 1 near North 12th Street to Mission Gate Road each day from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Drivers headed west may detour onto Purisima Road to reach Lompoc while drivers heading east towards Buellton may detour onto Highway 1 (H Street) to Purisima Road.

Electronic message boards will be activated to inform the public about this roadwork, which is being done by the Caltrans Maintenance team from Buellton.

Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.

For traffic updates on other state highways in Santa Barbara County, motorists can call Caltrans District 5 Public Affairs at 805-549-3318 or visit the District 5 website.
