24-hour closure planned for section of Highway 154

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A section of Highway 154 in Santa Barbara County will be closed for a full 24 hours while Caltrans conducts repair work.
Starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12, Caltrans will close the roadway to install a new overflow culvert in the Maria Ygnacio Creek watershed. The new culvert is needed following November's Cave Fire.
A soft closure will be in place at the Highway 154/246 roundabout in Santa Ynez as well as at Highway 192 in Santa Barbara. Local residents with identification will be allowed through.
Hard closures will be set up near San Antonio Creek Road and Painted Cave Road. The hard closures will also be in place for first responders.
Drivers will have to detour using U.S. 101. Signs and traffic control devices will be in place.
Assuming all goes well, the road should reopen to all drivers at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13.
