SMPD investigating shooting that sent 18-year-old victim to hospital

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - A shooting that wounded an 18-year-old man is under investigation by Santa Maria police.

Late Tuesday, just after 10 p.m., several calls to 911 reported gunshots and someone yelling for help. Officers arrived minutes later to find the victim along the 200 block of West Newlove Drive suffering from gunshot wounds.

The 18-year-old was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center. His condition was unclear Tuesday night, according to police.

The Santa Maria Police Department is investigating a shooting Tuesday evening.

The SMPD Crime Lab was at the scene for hours collecting evidence.

So far, no arrests have been made.
