The Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation hosted an in-person preview event for its online silent auction on Saturday morning in Montecito.

MONTECITO, Calif. — To financially support families with a child battling pediatric cancer, the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation is holding an online silent auction with over 100 unique and highly desirable items.

Although the in-person preview event took place this morning in Montecito, the online auction is still underway.

This morning, those in attedance took part in the safely socially distanced event with an opportunity drawing and wine pull.

There was also a special honor wall, where guest could make donations in honor of a loved one or write inspirational messages.

Since the start of COVID-19, TBCF has been providing even more services for families, including money for rent assistance, grocery gift cards, additional emotional support groups with licensed therapists, virtual and in-person tutoring, meal and care package delivery and virtual family fun events to keep their kids engaged.

Every year, TBCF hosts their annual Gold Ribbon Campaign throughout the month of September to raise funds during National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the annual in-person Gold Ribbon Campaign Luncheon at the Four Seasons Biltmore has been cancelled, which is a major source of funding for the nonprofit.

This year, the campaign is solely focused on raising funds and awareness for the organization and the families they serve which includes their online auction and honor wall.

“This event is directly helping us support the families who need us,” TBCF communications director Kirsten Stuart said. “During COVID-19, so many of the families that we serve have taken a double hit.”

TBCF’s auction includes fun and unique items such as a one night stay for 10 people at the magnificent Sunstone Villa, a two nights stay and dinner in Palm Springs, Tim Allen’s voice on your outgoing voicemail,  a SF Giants men’s Jerseys, multiple items from Burberry, Gucci, Prada, Hermes and Ballenciaga, a David Yurman necklace, a gift basket from Field and Forts, an alpaca throw from Jenni Kayne and much, much more.

“We are so grateful to our wonderful supporters and those who donated these fantastic auction items,” TBCF interim executive director Eryn Shugart said.
