COVID-19 and flu trends through the winter season are decreasing in Santa Barbara County

SANTA MARIA, Calif. -- The COVID-19, Influenza, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) cases in Santa Barbara County are decreasing after the holiday season.

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department reported the flu and RSV cases in the county were considered 'Low' on the spectrum.

COVID-19 cases peaked in the summer of 2022, then decreased throughout the fall.

In December the numbers rose in the midst of the holiday season.

Currently, COVID-19 cases have decreased in January.

Medical experts are unsure if the numbers will remain low.
