Santa Maria Alberstons is hiring during the pandemic

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Alberstons in Santa Maria is still hiring through the pandemic.

The location has brought on 20 new employees since the crisis started, and is still looking for more help.

Santa Maria Store Director Marvin Byrd said he has hired in all departments, from the bakery to the cashiers. For people who have lost their jobs, this has been a great way to make up for lost income. “I try to find out what a person can do, and hire to their strengths,” said Byrd.

Hiring at the Santa Maria location is expected to continue as temporary workers return to their original jobs. Byrd said, “It’s not because we don’t need them, but because they had other jobs that are calling them back and they are leaving and creating an additional vacancy for me.”
