Central Coast sandwich shop owners donate hundreds of lunchboxes to frontline workers
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Local Subway owners Reshmi and Amit Sarin have faced struggles during the COVID-19 pandemic like many others. But even in the midst of hardship, they chose to give back.
“As local business owners we wanted to reach out to the local community and give thanks and our gratitude to all our front line workers,” said local Subway owner Reshmi Sarin.
The wife and husband duo own Subways throughout the Central Coast.
They delivered over 300 lunchboxes to front line and essential workers.
“We started off at the Marian Medical Center and then we went to the Santa Maria Police Department,” said co-owner Amit Sarin.
After that they made their way to other local hospitals and the Santa Maria Juvenile Probation Department.
“Some of the workers don’t get recognized. They put in about 60 hours a week and they are on the front lines,” expressed Reshmi Sarin.
The Sarin's say they used what resources they had to let others know they cared.
“We wanted to thank them personally for all their great work and the risk they are taking for our local communities,” said Amit Sarin.
The Subway owners say they too understand what it's like to persevere during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their Subway employees also pitched in for the meaningful giveback.
“When you see all the community coming together it's a trickling domino effect. And we hope to create that by putting this effort out there,” said Reshmi Sarin.
Their Subway shops have extended hours and are currently hiring.
