Santa Maria police investigate rollover crash with minor injuries

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Santa Maria Police Department are investigating a rollover crash that occurred at Westgate Road and Battles Road Monday evening.

Police said the crash resulted in minor injuries. There were two vehicles involved, but only the SUV rolled over. Officers said the SUV was driving down Westgate toward Battles and pulled out from the stop sign at the intersection into oncoming traffic.

The other car involved was traveling on Battles when the two collided. Both cars were described as undrivable and towed from the scene

Two people sustained minor injuries from the crash. The driver of the SUV was momentarily trapped in the vehicle after it rolled over but successfully crawled out of the car before police arrived.

Officers ask that the public avoid that area for now while emergency personnel work on the incident.

The Santa Maria Fire Department responded to the accident as well.

Santa Maria Police said it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were involved in this crash.
