SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Monte Vista Elementary Student Council organized a coin drive for Los Angeles fire relief and the Red Cross.

The Student Council is a committee of 4th, 5th, and 6th graders who act as leaders on campus and help organize community events.

The students at Monte Vista were inspired to help the people of Los Angeles after the devastating wildfires.

They collected coins and bills to donate to the Red Cross.

They asked neighbors, donated their allowances, and planned an off-campus bake sale to raise money.

The entire student body raised $460 for the Red Cross.
