Editor of Ms. Magazine to address ‘The Power of Women’s Issues in the 2024 Elections’ at Presidents’ Circle Luncheon in Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Power of Women's Issues in the 2024 Elections is the focus of this year's Presidents' Circle Luncheon in Santa Barbara.

"I just hope we can mentor and encourage younger women to really pick up the banner," said former president Lois Phillips of the Santa Barbara Women's Political Committee.

Hosted by the Santa Barbara Women's Political Committee, editor Kathy Spillar of Ms. Magazine spoke to a sold out crowd about women’s rights.

Spillar highlighted the importance of getting out the vote.

She also discussed the many reasons why women – and anyone who supports women’s achievement of equal rights – needs to become politically involved in 2024.

"I think there is no question that the issue of abortion rights reproductive rights and health is going to be the number one issue on the vast majority of women’s minds as they go into that voting booth," said Spillar.

"My hope is that we are going to see victories for all those candidates who are committed to protecting women’s reproductive freedom … people who are committed to finding a creating a world that is equitable, where equality for gender, and for all," said former state senator Hannah-Beth Jackson.

In addition to the Spillar's presentation, those who came to the luncheon were excited to listen and learn from one another in celebration of International Women’s Day.

"It’s indicative of how diverse we are we come from all walks of life all backgrounds i think that’s what we’re celebrating,: said president Paula Lopez of SBWPC.

The Santa Barbara Women’s Political Committee is a non-partisan political action committee, endorsing candidates who promote a feminist agenda.

The organization hopes to promote these goals through events like the Presidents' Circle Luncheon.
