State funding secures $750,000 toward Goleta’s first inclusive park
GOLETA, Calif. – Play structures and picnic tables are just a couple of the features Goleta's first soon-to-be inclusive park has.
On Monday, Governor Gavin Newsom signed a proposal from the 19th Senate District allocating $750,000 of the state's budget into creating a universal playground for all families to enjoy at the Stow Grove Park.
The goal of the re-invented park is to accommodate people of all ages and abilities and allow the "whole child" to explore their environment physically, socially, emotionally, and cognitively.
The park currently has three different spaces filled with its own play features. The Master Plan will combine these three spaces into one large play space.
Assemblymember Gregg Hart said, "We are very fortunate to have high quality parks and open spaces in our community. I’m proud to have worked with my colleagues to secure funding for the Stow Grove Park playground project. Once built, this new playground will be enjoyed by our local youth and families for many years to come.”
Once the Stow Grove Park Master Plan has completed the California Environmental Quality Act process, the project will enter its design phase.
