Local firefighters surprise woman with Multiple Sclerosis with an LA Dodgers Game

SUMMERLAND, Calif.— Local firefighters surprised a woman with Multiple Sclerosis by taking her to a Dodgers Game Thursday evening.

President of the Firefighters Association Dean Carey says that when he visited Summerland resident Jackie Boucher on several house calls, he noticed that she would always have the Dodgers playing on TV in the background.

Naturally, the idea came to treat her to an in person game with her friends and his fellow firefighters.

Boucher, who is 51, is the daughter of a retired firefighter who started LA County’s Firefighter Museum.

The LA County Firemen Welfare fund paid for Jackie’s transport. The LA Dodgers gifted her with free tickets.

Dean Carey says this was a beautiful memory and hugely sentimental as it will be the last time Boucher gets to experience something like this.

Carey says his friendship with Boucher catapulted him to start a local charity, along with his fellow firefighters. This 501c3 will be called the Carpinteria- Summerland Firefighters Charity.

They aim to do numerous things to help the community including taking care of sick firefighters, sponsoring kids to be junior lifeguards, collecting holiday gifts for children, and providing skate helmets for underprivileged children.

We will be speaking with Boucher and Carey about their friendship, this heartwarming experience, and their hopes for this local charity.
