Carpinteria residents enjoy outdoors following winter storm

CARPINTERIA, Calif. – After days of downpour, Carpinteria residents are enjoying the outdoors again.

The winter storm did bring heavy surf to Carpinteria’s shoreline, however, the Winter Protection Berm stayed in tact for the most part with minor overtopping in the Linden to Elm Avenue block.

Surfing conditions are predicted to be unfavorable throughout Friday.

The city of Carpinteria has brought a bulldozer to aid with beach management. No major incidents have been reported following this January 4th to 5th storm.

Residents are being urged to pay attention to changing beach conditions, specifically erosion of the winter berm as that could lead to flooding.

Emergency responders will continue to monitor the weather and respond as needed to future storms.
