Car vs. oak tree crash on Highway 101 near Los Alamos area hospitalizes 27-year-old woman for major injuries

SBC Fire

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. – One woman was airlifted in critical condition to a nearby hospital after her car went over the side of the road on Highway 101 two miles north of the San Marcos Pass in the Los Alamos area, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

SBC Firefighters extracted her from the car; she was in critical condition from injuries sustained in the accident.

California Highway Patrol later identified the driver as a 27-year-old woman from San Luis Obispo, and said that drugs and alcohol were not considered to be a factor in this crash.

CHP said she "allowed" her car to veer to the right and leave the road and crash into a large oak tree.

Officials warned the community to drive safe and cautiously as more rain is to come.
