Dead whale washes ashore on Gaviota coast

GOLETA, Calif. – A dead whale washed ashore along the Gaviota Coast last week.

The whale was first spotted around Thursday on Tajiguas Beach.

Officials said it likely washed ashore due to the recent storms.

People were warned to keep their distance.

But for some people, like little nature enthusiasts Maven and Moxie McCloud, it was hard to stay away.

"It's amazing how we can see the entire specimen right there. It's amazing"

Local whale experts noted two holes near the animal's tail, but they don't yet know what caused its death.
