3.4 magnitude earthquake felt near Carpinteria

CARPINTERIA, Calif. – A magnitude 3.4 earthquake startled some residents on the south coast of Santa Barbara County Wednesday night.

The earthquake was first reported around 10:38 p.m. about five miles southeast of Carpinteria.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake was located at a depth of about 6 miles.

Initial reports indicated the earthquake registered at a 3.4 magnitude.

So far there are no reports of any injuries or damage.

According to the USGS incident page, several people reported feeling light shaking during the brief earthquake.
