Motorcyclist killed after collision with SUV on Cathedral Oaks in Goleta on Tuesday night

GOLETA, Calif. - A motorcyclist killed in a crash Tuesday evening has been identified.

22-year-old Mikha Benedictus of Goleta was killed in a crash with a Subaru sedan in Goleta around 8:30 p.m.

It happened in the area of Cathedral Oaks Road between Los Carneros and Glen Annie roads, deputies said. Deputies arrived on scene and found the motorcyclist partly wedged underneath the front of the sedan. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cathedral Oaks Road was closed for several hours in the area of the crash.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Investigators say the driver and passenger of the Subaru were uninjured and were cooperating throughout the investigation.

The investigation is in its early stages, but the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office says drugs, alcohol, impairment and distraction were not factors for the driver of the Subaru.

The cause and fault of the collision remains under investigation.
