Police arrest wanted suspect after high-risk traffic stop in Santa Barbara

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Santa Barbara police officers arrested a man after a "high-risk stop" in Santa Barbara Wednesday afternoon.

At around 3 p.m., an off-duty police officer with Santa Barbara City Police Department noticed a wanted robbery suspect in the Eastside area.

The off-duty police officer contacted his colleagues and a uniformed police officer responded to follow the suspect.

Police said the suspect was deemed armed and dangerous from his parole. Police officers stopped the suspect at the intersection of Voluntario and Cacique streets.

Police said several people were in the car.

Officers were able to identify the suspect who was driving the car and arrested him on scene. He was arrested on a robbery warrant and parole violation.

Multiple police cars were on scene for traffic enforcement due to the high-risk nature of the traffic stop.
