Coast Guard responds to fire on container ship off SB coast

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The U.S. Coast Guard sent help to a large ship off the Santa Barbara coast when a fire broke out aboard Wednesday morning.

The President Eisenhower, a 965-foot motor vessel, was on its way from Los Angeles to San Francisco when the fire started. It was 24 miles off the coast of Santa Barbara when the Coast Guard arrived. The fire was extinguished and there were no injuries, according to a tweet from the Coast Guard out of Los Angeles.
