Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s arrest man for alleged attempted murder, rape

GOLETA, Calif. -- Santa Barbara County Sheriff's arrested a man accused of being involved in rape and attempted murder in Goleta on September 29.

On September 29, Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies reported to a sexual assault on the 5400 block of Hollister in Goleta at around 6:24 p.m.

At arrival, deputies made contact with the reporting person and the victim at a nearby business.

The reporter called 911 after hearing someone calling for help and found a woman, who was partially clothed, running towards the business.

Deputies learned that the suspect fled the area in a silver colored Volkswagen Beetle before their arrival.

Deputies say the victim had serious injuries and was treated on scene.

The victim, a woman, recounted the violent attack and sexual assault to deputies.

She said she had barely escaped the attack.

Additional deputies arrived to the scene and they began to search the surrounding areas for the suspect and car.

About 30 minutes later, deputies were able to locate the unoccupied silver Volkswagen beetle at the 900 block of Ward Drive.

About five minutes later, deputies located the suspect on the 800 block of Ward Drive.

The man was taken into custody and was booked at the Main Jail.

He was arrested for attempted murder, assault with intent to commit rape, assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, false imprisonment, sexual battery, terrorist threats, robbery, dissuading a witness, giving false information to a peace officer and batter.

His bail is set at $1 million.
