Hiker rescued after heat-related emergency on San Ysidro Trail near Montecito

MONTECITO, Calif. - A hiker was rescued off San Ysidro Trail Sunday afternoon after suffering from a heat emergency.

Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue, Montecito Fire and AMR responded to the location around 2:08 p.m.

The patient was contacted by emergency crews and stabilized on the trail by Fire medics.

Crews then used a litter and wheel to roll the victim to the ambulance for further treatment.

As a reminder, community members should drink plenty of water, avoid intensive activities and limit their outdoor exposure during the extreme heat wave this weekend.
